We produced our first single vineyard Pinot Noir in 2006 from three-year-old vines. The quality of the wine has been excellent right from the start with the first vintage being likened to one of the great Grand Cru vineyards of Burgundy, France. Neal Martin, an influential wine critic and author based in the UK, now senior editor at Vinous and previously at The Wine Advocate wrote of the 2006 vintage: Something of a Romanée-St.-Vivant femininity about it, which is a good thing in my book! An impressive, subtle Central Otago Pinot Noir.

The wines from this vineyard have consistently shown great potential to age with grace and harmony for 10+ years. From the 2011 vintage we have held back wine from each vintage for sale as a library wine. (2014 is the current library release).

In 2014 we made a special release of wine from one small part of the vineyard which consistently produced distinctive fruit. This is our Block 6 label and was produced in 2014 and 2016. This wine has proven to be outstanding and adds another dimension to the Grasshopper Rock story.

To show off what this vineyard is capable of we also sell a six vintage pack. The current six vintage pack includes a bottle of each vintage from 2014 to 2019. All wines are highly rated and provide a great insight into premium single vineyard Central Otago Pinot Noir.
